Finding Your Calling

How Leveraging Your Spiritual Gifts Can Change Everything!

Have you ever been disappointed by something that didn't live up to its full potential?

Maybe it was a movie everyone raved about, a restaurant with perfect reviews, or even your favorite sports team (looking at you, NY Giants fans!).

That frustration you feel when you see the gap between what could be and what actually is? That's exactly how many people feel about the Church today.

But here's the beautiful truth hidden in that disappointment: it reveals you still believe more is possible! That frustration actually points to hope, possibility, and faith that something greater could emerge if the potential were fully realized.

You Were Made for More Than the Sidelines

In Ephesians 4, Paul writes as "a prisoner of serving the Lord" - someone whose heart had been completely captivated by God. He begs believers to "lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God." This isn't a gentle suggestion; it's an urgent plea because Paul understands something crucial:

When you're captivated by God, you'll step into what He's called you to do!

The problem is that too many Christians think ministry and church building is someone else's job. They assume it's reserved for pastors, missionaries, or the "super spiritual." But Paul makes it crystal clear in verse 12: "All of God's people are called to do His work and to build up the church." There are no exceptions or "out" clauses.

Your Gifts Matter More Than You Think

God has given each believer unique spiritual gifts - not just the five mentioned in Ephesians 4:11 (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers), but nearly two dozen gifts scattered throughout the New Testament. You might be surprised to discover you have more gifts than you realize!

If you don't know your spiritual gifts, taking a spiritual gifts assessment can be one of the most transformative steps you'll ever take. Why? Because as Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, "We are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

The Solution to Church Disappointment

Here's a sobering reality: in most churches, only 20-30% of people are actively using their gifts and serving. No wonder the church sometimes falls short of its potential!

But here's the exciting part - you can be part of the solution!

When you step into your calling and use your gifts to build the church, two incredible things happen. First, you unlock personal significance and joy that comes from living in your divine design. Second, you help the church reach its full potential to change cities and transform the world.

Your Next Step

Stop waiting for someone else to step up. God hasn't called you to simply attend church - He's called you to actively build it. Your gifts, your calling, and your contribution matter more than you know. The church needs what you have to offer, and you'll find the purpose and meaning you've been searching for when you say yes to God's call on your life.

The question isn't whether you've been called. The question is:

Will you answer?
