How To Deal With Dream Crushers

October 27, 2025

Have you ever met someone that seems intent on crushing your dreams or someone else's dreams? It seems like certain people are intent on keeping you from fulfilling the dreams that God has placed in your heart and spoken over your life.

Drawing from the story of Joseph in Genesis 37, Ricky shows how dream crushers aren't just obstacles to overcome—they're real people and mindsets that can derail your God-given purpose if you don't know how to handle them.

Whether you're pursuing a calling, starting a ministry, launching a business, or stepping into something God has placed on your heart, understanding these dream crushers is essential for your spiritual journey and personal growth.

The first dream crusher Ricky identifies is the naysayer—those people who actively oppose, criticize, and work against what God is doing in your life. Just like Joseph's brothers who mocked him saying "here comes the dreamer" and then sold him into slavery, naysayers will go to great lengths to kill your dreams. They muddy and bloody in you what they don't see in themselves, attacking your character, questioning your motives, and shooting down your ambitions. Ricky provides practical wisdom on how to guard your dreams by being selective about who you share them with, asking critical questions about whether people are pursuing God's dreams for their own lives and producing fruit you want to see in yours.

The second and potentially more dangerous dream crusher is self-delusion—when you mistake your own self-centered dreams for God's dreams. In a culture that constantly tells us to chase after our dreams and do what's best for ourselves, many Christians have been deceived into believing their personal ambitions must align with God's will. Ricky challenges viewers to test the spirit by asking whether their dreams are about self, whether they primarily serve themselves or others, and whether those dreams steal their hearts away from God.

This message offers biblical truth about denying yourself, crucifying the flesh, and remembering that just because something is good doesn't mean it's God.

If you've ever felt discouraged by people crushing your dreams or wondered whether you're pursuing your own agenda instead of God's purpose, this sermon will give you clarity, direction, and hope for moving forward in faith.
